Illustrating florals is pretty damn fun. Lucky for us, we get to do it almost every day. We would love to share some of these skills with you, and encourage you to be get out your pens and pencils and create something too! The workshop will be small and friendly, surrounded by fresh blooms, botanical books and floral prints. Delicious!
During this workshop you’ll be introduced to the process of floral illustration for textile design by two designer/illustrators from our studio. They will demonstrate a range of different drawing techniques and tools as well as basic floral composition and layouts. These are the skills we use everyday to create our floral print designs in the studio, but they can easily be applied to many other creative fields too! We very much encourage you to develop your own style of floral illustration, with time to practice the techniques learnt, and begin your own textile design.
At the end of the course you will get to take home your artworks ready to frame. You will also have the option to have your work digitally printed onto silk (for an additional charge), for a beautiful scarf or to be framed into a wall hanging (please register your interest at time of booking).
The focus of this course is illustrating spring flowers such as peonies, magnolias, jasmine, tulips, orchids and freesias. Fresh blooms will be provided on the day along with reference books to inspire you. Flowers provided will vary slightly from class to class, depending on availability. All skill levels are welcome but you should have an interest in drawing and design and come along with an open mind.
Under 18s: The Print School is also open to 15-17 year olds. Please download a copy of our Under 18 Enrolment Information & Consent Form, and return a completed consent form prior to your course date.
