We are super excited to be able to bring your our new series of Photoshop for Textile Design classes, our first focusing on Illustrated motifs. In these two new courses we will be teaching you both a morning and afternoon class that will guide you in the process of using photoshop for textile design. We absolutely recommend taking both classes to get the most out of your learning, you will also leave with 6 hours of one on one tuition with our industry leading designers.

This is your chance to discover the joy and magic that is photoshop and the abundance of possibilities in your design practice. If you have always wanted to know how to use your illustrated elements, but don’t know how to or you just want a sneak peak into how we work in our studio, this is perfect for you. Feel free to bring in your own illustrations on the day to work with or we will supply our studio illustrations for you.

This class will focus on the everyday tools we use here in our studio for creating our textile designs.  Photoshop is a never ending voyage with so much to learn, so many tricks and hidden gems, what we can teach you in 3- 6 hours is very specific to textile design, we will not be covering those area’s of photoshop that do not apply.  We require all students to be familiar with photoshop’s tools and general usage and layout.

You will also get a handy take home pack full of tips and worksheets to help with your practice once you leave us.

Morning Class: This 3 hours class will go through how we scan our elements after creation and how we set up our files in the studio.
You will get an insiders look into how to properly organise your design processes. We then delve into all the tips and tricks for cleaning your elements, and then onto the fun stuff of colouring up your work in the many ways photoshop allows.
The morning will also teach you composition guidelines and how to gain the most out of your elements which is such invaluable knowledge to have. We end the morning with a guide to creating colourways that will add another dimension into your design offering.
You may only have a very basic knowledge of the wide world of Photoshop, but you will leave this first part of our weekend series with a new arsenal of knowledge to take home, as well as an insiders look into how we work and create our designs in the studio.

Afternoon Class: The 2nd half of our Photoshop for Textile Design series is designed to be taken after our morning class. With your previously learned knowledge you will embark your afternoon with a look into the world of repeats. We will teach you how we create repeats in our studio and the theory behind it. You will then continue your practice with how to prepare your design work or production, allowing you to take your work to the next level. You will gain access to our top tips and tricks and a practical guide through the entire process. Have you ever wanted to know how to create a half drop repeat? Well, you will get a first hand demonstration from our experienced designers. We will also show you our special techniques into checking your production ready artworks for errors and mistakes, elevating your work for textiles after you leave. We end the day with a practical guide to colour indexing which will get you industry ready. Our industry leading designers have worked all over the world and you will gain first hand knowledge and practical experience from them that will take your textile practice to the next level.
Stay tuned for our Photoshop for Textile Design _ Watercolour motifs.
